According to a survey of marketing representatives at 116 Fortune 500 companies, video is the top online marketing priority for 2010. The survey, conducted by TurnHere Internet Video (a company that produces video for, well, Fortune 500 companies and anyone else with a budget) isn't exactly hard social science, since they have a small, circular interest in promoting online video production, but that doesn't mean this isn't evidence of what we already know: If you are a business in the 21st century and you are on the Internet, you need video. And if you are a business in the 21st century and you are not on the Internet, well, good luck.

Of course, if you are a company that knows you need video, but you don't already have a video production team, you have many exciting options. One caution: your IT guys will claim it's easy, but that's because they've not tried it yet. Yes, the technical end is easy, but even if you get the technical end exactly right, you can still end up with an embarrassing disaster. Besides free consulting and an objective analysis of your needs, videopia.org can help you decide if you can do it yourself or if it makes sense to hire professionals. The cost of doing it the right way is not as high as you might think.
