Theft at the DVD level of retail has reached into the Billions of dollars of lost revenue each year. So much so that the entertain industry has said enough is enough, we want to keep some of that coin. A new proposal has the industry thinking about a Radio Activated lock (RAL) for Games and DVD movies,  tenentatively come into play around the trailing end of 2010.

The RAL is similar to the current security tags in DVD cases and will have to be deactivated during checkout. Will this new proceedure make you think twice before visiting a brick and mortar retailer or will you find it easier to just purchase your game or movie on the webs?
