Although it's not new, I just discovered Ignite public speaking. Kinda like a nerdy hipster Toastmasters. Besides the sheer fun of public speaking (I hate hosting video, love public speaking - go figure), the five minute format (+ 20 slides) is brilliant. Here's a meta-Ignite talk about giving Ignite talks:

What I really love about this in the context of video production for the Internet is that I think teachers and presenters (like ourselves) should strongly consider limiting ourselves in this way. It's not easy, but I think when you take care to keep your informational program as short as possible, you keep it as efficient possible. Edit, edit, edit. Get rid of words and sentences you don't need. This is the Internet and while an Ignite presenter may have 5 minutes with a captive audience that is on your side, we producers of Internet video are not so lucky. CLICK and your audience is gone.
